May 16-24, 2007

Switzerland - 4 Countries from One Hotel

Passport Update!
Please note that as of January 2, 2007, a valid passport is required for Cabo San Lucas and Switzerland travel programs. Note that the passport must be valid at least 6 months prior to your travel dates so please review the date your passport expires. Be sure that your passport does not expire during this time. If you do not yet have one, please allow 8 weeks to secure this. Please apply as quickly as possible.


May 16-24, 2007

Your vacation includes:

Wednesday, May 16 Depart Columbus
Depart Columbus in the early afternoon. Fly overnight to Zurich, Switzerland. Dinner and breakfast will be provided on the flight.

Thursday, May 17 Transfer from Zurich to Lucerne
Arrive Zurich at approximately 9:00 a.m. and transfer by motor coach to Lucerne (about 11/2 hours) and our hotel, where we will be spending the next seven nights. We will take a walking tour of Lucerne. The afternoon will be free for shopping, the Fine Art Museum or just exploring. Dinner at the hotel will be included.

Friday, May 18 Optional Excursion to Basel, Switzerland and Riqhewihr, France
If you chose to take the optional full-day tour, we will depart the hotel for an excursion to the Alsace-Lorraine region of France. We will take the train from Lucerne to Basel, located on the border between Switzerland, Germany and France. We will then continue through wine country to Riqhewihr, France.

Saturday, May 19 Optional Excursion to Rhine Falls/Stein-am-Rhein
If you chose to take the optional full-day tour, we will start by taking the train to Zurich. In Zurich, we will board our private motor coach for the drive to Schaffhausen to see Europe's largest waterfalls, the Rhine Falls. From Schaffhausen we will transfer by ferry boat to Stein-am-Rhein, a charming Swiss village on Lake Constance.

Sunday, May 20 The day will be at your leisure.
Explore Lucerne on your own. Ride the world's steepest cogwheel train up to the summit of Mount Pilatus, take a day cruise on Lake Lucerne, shop for Swiss watches at Bucherer, or just relax and spend the day strolling around the lake. This evening there is an optional Swiss Folklore Dinner and show at one of Lucerne's well-known restaurants, the Stadtkeller.

Monday, May 21 Optional Excursion to Italian Lake District and Lugano
If you chose the full-day optional excursion, we will start out by taking the train from Lucerne to Chiasso, on the border between Switzerland and northern Italy. Upon our arrival in Chiasso, we will board our private motor coach for the drive to Como, Italy. Then we'll continue to Lugano, Switzerland located at the southern foothills of the Alps.

Tuesday, May 22 Optional Excursion to the Black Forest
If you chose the full-day optional tour, we will take the train from Lucerne to Basel and board our private motor coach for the drive to Germany's Black Forest region. We'll stop in Hofgutsternen and visit one of Germany's largest cuckoo clock shops.

Wednesday, May 23 Optional Excursion to Brienz, Switzerland
If you chose the full-day excursion we'll take the train from Lucerne to Brienz. Upon arrival in Brienz, we will board our private motor coach and proceed to Freilichtmuseum Ballenberg. Then back to the train station for a spectacular train ride to Brienzer-Rothorn, the last steam-driven rack railway in Switzerland, for a hour ride to Rothorn summit. Then back down the mountain to Brienz and our motor coach will takes us back to Lucerne.
